Procurorii anunță că la 10 mai 2021, procurorii l-au pus sub învinuire pentru asigurarea și organizarea activității grupului de persoane care nemijlocit au realizat răpirea cetățeanului ucrainean. Potrivit legii penale, fapta de care bărbatul reținut este învinuit se pedepsește cu închisoarea pentru un termen de la 6 la 10 ani. Judecătorul cunoscut pentru faptul că a examinat mai multe dosare cu implicarea participanţilor la Euromaidan, a fost reţinut la Chişinău pe 1 martie 2017. Magistratul s-a prezentat benevol la Inspectoratul de Poliţie al sectorului Buiucani, declarând că a trecut ilegal frontiera de stat. La Chișinău acesta a solicitat azil politic, însă 12 octombrie 2017 a primit refuz.
